Fall asleep counting your blessings...

I am currently reading Out to Canaan by Jan Karon. I believe it is the fourth book in the Mitford Series and a very lighthearted read. The series is about the adventures and misadventures of an Episcopalian rector in a small town. If these aren't feel good books, I don't know what are. Anyway, I came across this quote the other day and it gave me an idea for a new list:

"Suppose for a moment...that God began taking from us the many things for which we have failed to give thanks. Which of our limbs and faculties would be left? Would I still have my hands and my mind? And what about loved ones? If God were to take from me all those persons and things for which I have not given thanks, who or what would be left of me?"

Sometime in the next few days, I am going to try to come up with a new list of 100 things for which I am thankful. Because there are always those first few things for which we are always thankful. Maybe once I get past a certain number, I'll start recognizing the things I always take for granted.

Pop Quiz: From what movie are the song lyrics I used in the title?

White Christmas.

That's a lovely idea!

Oh, and Rosemary Clooney and Bing Crosby sing it.

That IS a good idea. Once again, hey bandwagon...I imagine I'll jump on it. That one may take awhile.

Darnit, Katie Lady - you only got this before me because you get up earlier than I do (and my server was having problems earlier!) :-P

I think this is a fabulous idea and I fully intend to copy. :-)

I'm never sure if others know that movie. My mom and I used to watch it every year when it came on (Channel 20, actually) during the holidays. And I've continued the tradition, even requiring my husband to watch with me. It's so much fun to sing along to the songs.
