didn't your mama ever teach you...

We had fun bowling Saturday nite, aside from the annoying people surrounding us. To one side we had three guys that were clearly regular bowlers but lacked social skills. The eldest of the three came in and dropped his bag in the middle of the walkway which one of the employees later tripped over, splaying the tray of food he was carrying all over the floor and nearly some of the patrons. Said bowler later protested the manager's exective decision to put the bag behind the counter since it did not have any obvious owner at the time.

To the other side was a large group of young twenty-somethings doing what they do best - drinking, smoking, and being all-around obnoxious. Shirley, I wasn't that annoying when I was that age. Again, though they didn't own their own equipment, they bowled well enough to indicate that this was not the first time they bowled.

Unfortunately for us, neither group seemed to have much of a grasp on basic bowling etiquette. You just don't run up and roll when someone is already on the wood about to roll. Not cool, man. The Dude would not be pleased.

The Dude reigns! Bowling reminds me of one of my favorite shows, Ed. I miss Ed, the Bowler/Lawyer.

I hate obnoxious people while bowling. I had friends in a league in college, so I'd go up on League Night at Showplace Lanes in Austin and hang out with them, drinking cheap beer and eating greasy food and watching the pros try to teach me about bowling. Fun stuff. But it was always so funny to see the college kids (even though I was one myself, I was exempt because I was with one of the league groups) protest the wait for a lane because it was league night. They pitched little fits, got drunk at the bar while waiting, and ended up being tossed out. Good riddance to bad rubbish, I always say.

I used to bowl in collegiate tournaments, so I am now an expert in bowling (even tho that was easily 17-18 years ago). Obnoxious people while bowling should have bowling balls dropped on their feet.

Who is The Dude?

Oh my, bubba's sis, it looks like katielady might need to share some things with you! The Dude is from the ultimate bowling movie - loads more respectable than KingPin - "The Big Lebowski". I don't know your movie viewing preferences, but it is a highly amusing movie that I would recommend.
