So sad. Suddenly, last nite was the series finale of one of my all-time favorite shows: Gilmore Girls. Of course, if I were a bigger fan I probably should have known that it was going to be the series finale. But I'll use Ainsley as an excuse once again. And the fact that we don't really watch that station other than to see Gilmore Girls.
I was half-watching it - which is the most I can do these days until Ainsley is in bed - and about half way through began to get very suspicious that this was going to be the series finale. Rory had just graduated from Yale and suddenly got a job as a political reporter to be touring with Obama's campaign. That's pretty big. How were they going to bring her back from that to continue the story line? Hmmm.
The next clue was when Rory and Loralei discussed Loralei's "relationship" with Luke. Usually, that is the elephant-in-the-room topic that underlies every great show. You know, the ultimate goal of the show that the writers tease their viewership with like a carrot dangling in front of the horse.
Then the big Bon Voyage party for Rory where the camera pans slowly around the crowd and you notice a few characters that haven't been on the show for a while. Wait a minute, what's going on here? Could this be it? But they haven't actually solved the Luke and Loralei issue...oh, they just did. Crap. Maaaaan! Poop! Sigh
No reason to look forward to Tuesday nites anymore. No more witty reparte. Ironic that this comes on the heels of my recent obsession with the program. I started watching it in syndication whilst on maternity leave. And have recently started watching the two seasons I have on dvd, which I have owned for over three years and had not yet opened. I get a nightly fix during Ainsley's last feeding of the nite and while pumping milk for the next day.
So Bon Voyage indeed, Gilmore Girls. You've earned a spot on my list of favorite shows next to Northern Exposure and West Wing.

Yes, it was very sad. Although it was really over back in May, I'm guessing you were seeing the summer re-runs from the previous season. But hey, it was new to you, so no biggie!
I was very sad. My sister got me and Bubba hooked (although he denies it), a few years back, but it was no where near the beginning of the series. We watched it religiously while I was pregnant.

Yes, I'm ignoring the fact that I went through mourning months ago. I didn't realize it was the end until the previews at the end of the next to last one. So sad. And then...THEN! I was out of town for it so I recorded it. I come back home to watch it? Only sound... I listened to it like an old radio program and still cried. Later, I watched it on Matthew's tv which mysteriously captured the picture. I'll miss it.
Yeah, bummer. Love Lauren Graham (is that her name?). Glad to see your blog again! I kinda lost track and was trying to remember your url.
For FREE templates, I used finalsense.com - just pick one you like and they give you the html code. Then in blogger layout/template, choose the "page element" that allows you to enter html code. I lost a few page elements in the process - some pictures - but I can add back in if I want to.
Yes, I cried after that one. Gilmore was one of my rare "must sees."
