Cirque du Squirrel-a

(The Boss is sleeping and I have a bit of time to catch up on posting. Can you tell?)
Okay, I've come to expect this:

In spite of the fact that we removed the bird feeder from the hanger on the tree and put it on a shepherd's hook, they still have learned to shimmy up the pole and wipe out all the bird seed in one day.

However, I never expected to see this:

Do you see? Do you see that the squirrel is drinking out of the HUMMINGBIRD feeder?!? He apparently didn't get the memo that the feeder is reserved for those who are typically less than three inches in length and flap their wings hundreds of times a second and are equipped with a long skinny beak with which to extract the sugar water from this feeder. I have witness this squirrel removing the little cover from the "flower" and licking it completely dry before dropping it on the ground and moving to the next "flower". So now not only do our regular birds have limited food source from our yard, the humming birds do as well. Gah!
And, no, that is not a flying squirrel. I know you were thinking it.

Remember not to let the hummingbird necter ferment or you'll have to start attending "Squirrel-Anon" to learn how not to enable the squirrels' alcohol dependency. Tee-hee-hee... ;-)

Hi angelq,

Just found your blog in random "next blog" fashion - really enjoyed your writing and photos and of course your gorgeous baby girl! I read back through your June/July blogs - wow, it brings back good and painful memories of my "baby girl" G now age 6, who (since you mention sleeping baby topic) is sprawled out next to me, very leggy, very scrawny, right this minute, fast asleep. Oh, I really could have used a blog back then! Your black and white pics are truly lovely.

I can tell (yes I can) that you're a GREAT mom and your family is lucky to have each other. Good luck and I'll check your blog periodically to see how you're all doing!

RCT, but I could also call myself rollercoastermom, rollercoasterwife, etc ;)

Smart little guys.

I've seen them hang upside down from their toes (like a bat) to get the food out of my birdfeeder!

I totally hate squirrels! They will find a way to get in the bird feeder no matter what - and we've tried a lot of things. I am now thinking of posting hubby out there with a beebee gun to shoot the little buggers.

Yes, Bubba's Mom, my dad has declared open season on squirrels at his house ever since they decided to start camping out in the attic. They are more destructive than mice.
