Oh, Dear! Oh, Dear! Oh, Dear!

People who know me know Piglet is my favorite Winnie-the-Pooh character. I contemplated this during my two hour drive in to downtown this morning for a conference and came to the conclusion that you could probably tell a lot about a person based on their favorite Pooh character.

For example, Piglet is very shy and nervous. He does not like having to deal with new situations. He likes his very good friend, Pooh, with whom he is very comfortable. I, too, do rather poorly in new situations. This morning my stomach was in a great knot because I had to alter my usual morning routine and drive downtown to attend a conference. Being a shy person, I felt certain that I would spend the entirety of my day not talking to anyone and the school-age fear of "who will I eat lunch with?" came flooding back. Ugh. This is precisely why I am not very good at marketing.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy new experiences...once they have/are happening. It's getting to that point that becomes an issue. I have an adventurous spirit and would like to do all kinds of new and different things but my head gets in the way and "rains on the parade" shall we say? I learned years ago that if I can just force myself to go through with a social commitment, things usually turn out well.

And things turned out just fine. Two other people from my office showed up about 10 minutes into the first session. Ironically, I was later annoyed that neither wanted to go to a different session than the other. Not because they were interested in the same lectures, but because they didn't want to be alone. (In the sessions, I'm okay with being alone - it's the in-between times when you are supposed to be social with people you don't know that I can't handle.)

Moving on...my husband and best friend would both choose Eeyore. Again, great representation of their personalities to some extent. They never give up and always try new things, but mostly not surprised if things don't turn out well.

My former college roommate would have chosen Pooh. Very well meaning, but really no clue about how her actions affect others.

It's true. Eeyore's depressed, though, and I've always known that I would need to give him up at some point to really be happy. I've weeded out about half of them. My brother is a Pooh, too...bopping along thru life without too many bad things happening to him despite of himself. And I think the same thing of Peanuts characters...I like good ol' Charlie (always going for the underdog).

I choose Tigger for me, and Bubba is definitely a Piglet. Y'all should coordinate and go to conferences together. Although he's gotten better at doing things alone as he's gotten older.

He'll probably be mad that I said all that. But that's why we 'fit' together so well. I'm the social butterfly, and he brings me back to the people that really matter. It's a good combo.

So....what personality is it that Owl has?

Hiya, Ma. Owl is very information oriented. Loves to be social but sometimes acts like he is better than all the others. Full of unsolicited advice, I'd say. So maybe you're the exception to the rule?
